If you're planning a birthday party for your child and don't want the hassle of hosting it at home, you can choose from a variety of creative venue ideas instead. Not only will a lot of them handle the party-planning details, but you also won't have to worry about cleaning up after the celebration.

When picking the perfect party venue for children, check to see if your child's favorite attraction, such as children's museum or sporting complex, is available. The venue's activities will keep the youngsters entertained well after the cake and ice cream is served.

If you don't mind doing most of the planning and cleaning up yourself, consider outdoor venues, such as local park or playground. While they don't have event teams on hand, kids will love playing and picnicking in the fresh air. Consider buying or renting an event tent in case of inclement weather.

Here are some kid-friendly party venue ideas to get you started:

1. Pizza Parlor

Hosting a child's birthday party at a pizza parlor is perfect for both lunch and dinnertime celebrations. You won't have to worry about figuring out what to serve picky eaters or about cooking and cleaning up the kitchen.

If possible, choose an eatery that features children's games, as well, to keep the young-party goers happy before and after eating. Also, ask the restaurant to serve a variety of different types of pizza, including plain cheese, to satisfy everyone on your kid's guest list. Some parlors will even allow kids to make their own pizza creations.

2. Art Studio

Art studios will allow the small guests to get creative and make their own party favors to bring home. Pick a venue that specializes in kids' activities and that features a variety of children's art supplies, such as crayons, colored pencils, and washable markers.

Prior to booking the venue, ask if you're allowed to bring food, such as cake and ice cream, along. If not, your child will have to blow out the candles before or after getting artsy.

3. U-Pick Farm, Orchard or Pumpkin Patch

Depending on the time of year, you can host your child's birthday party among a seasonal harvest. During the spring, hold the celebration at a u-pick strawberry farm, or invite guests to a pumpkin patch or apple orchard in the fall.

Look for a farm or patch that offers other kid-friendly activities, such as a zip-line, pony rides, or bounce house, for a more festive feel. Children can take their just-picked produce home as healthy party favors.
